A bibliography (Besterman 6464) of travel journals, 1583-1668 which was originally printed in Amsterdam by Frederik Muller in 1867. Most journals are by Dutch mariners and travelers (not necessarily in Dutch), but Dutch editions of journals written by those of other nationalities are also included, for ex., translations of Bartolomé de Las Casas. Journals listed are from the collections compiled by De Bry and Hulsius, various 17th-century Dutch collections, and the collection of Frederik Muller. Three hundred twenty-two numbered entries for the collections themselves and for accounts and editions of accounts relating to travels by over 35 major figures along with a few others. A typical entry provides a title page transcription, physical and bibliographic description with short collation, notes (often referring to other works or translations, etc.), and lists charts and maps. With a table of contents, chronological table, list of entries under name or topic, and index.
