First edition (Appleton p.83; Mejer 2519; not in Brenni). Spine and edges of the boards faded, rear cover with dampstaining. Discussion of library bindings, fine bindings, the care of bindings, etc. Especially interesting for the mounted samples: there are 23 samples of acid-free leathers showing colors, grains and kinds (including levant morocco, hard grain morocco, fine grain seal, pigskin, glazed basil, paste grain skiver, plain oasis morocco and parchment). There are also 30 mounted samples of bookcloths including some very nice weaves and patterns.
