All text in both English and German. The nineteenth century German scholar Leander van Ess's library was purchased by the Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York in 1838. His collection contained Bibles in a number of languages, works on church history, ecclesiastical law as well as medieval manuscripts. The catalogue itself is preceded by a brief biography of van Ess and some introductory notes to the collection. Well illustrated in black and white, with one color plate and one color fold out plate.
