A new edition, printed in an edition of 912 copies of which this is one of 432 copies printed on "Amiens" paper, with extensive additions of "The Vision of Columbus," 1787 ( BAL 906). Dampstaining to the preliminary pages, and dampstaining to the edges of the textblock throughout. Mostly disbound, with only the front and rear board present in poor condition. Lacking one of the seven plates. Could be used as a leaf book.

Finely printed on wove paper and in large type reminicient of Baskerville by Fry and Kammerer for C. and A. Conrad and Co. Philadelphia. An introductory letter from Robert Fulton to Barlow, dated April 19, 1812, quotes the printer as stating "The author...supervised the project in detail, arranging for three grades of paper...in an effort to reach various levels of the public."
