Order Nr. 54626

Parts 1-13, plus the introductory volume. Covers show only the slightest hint of soiling; a few of the staples are rusty. The Atlanta Public Library put on the above series of exhibitions in 1954 and 1955. Not in Besterman; however, according to Besterman (2508), in 1956 this library produced a work entitled "Georgia 1800-1900...from the Georgiana Library of James Larwood." Since the number of bibliographic entries is the same and the pagination almost the same, we assume that it is a compilation of these exhibition catalogues of 1954-55, and that the anonymous "private collector" noted in the catalogues is Mr. Larwood. The set has a total of 294 annotated entries for books and maps, with 800+ listings for colonial currency, bank notes and the like, and 39 entries for Confederate treasury notes. Each volume has a short introduction, and many of the bibliographic entries have lengthy annotations. There are frequent illustrations: facsimiles of title pages, reproductions of prints, maps, etc. From the private reference library of Dorothy Sloan with a commemorative bookplate loosely inserted.
