First edition, translated from the German by Ruari McLean. A landmark book in typographic design in which Tschichold advanced his ideas on asymmetric typography. He later recognized that there were two approaches to design problems and asymmetric was not necessarily the best. Well illustrated with some in color. Jacket shows minor soiling and light fading to the spine.
