Third edition from first edition of 1868, enlarged with the assistance of Crescentino Giannini (Besterman, 5151; Not in Bigmore & Wyman). Bound together these two titles present a history and bibliography of books printed by the Soncini family who were the first printers at Soncini in Lombardy, Italy. Split along the spine, rear cover separated and heavily chipped along the edges. Covers toned. Internally a very good copy.
The set up their press in 1472 or 1473 and were primarily dedicated to printing Judaica. This edition, the third, is the first to include their non-Hebrew books in addition to Judaica. This work not only covers their production of incunabula but traces their printing efforts into the sixteenth century. Only three holdings listed for this edition in the NUC.
