Designed and printed for the Book Club of California in an edition of 500 copies by Gregg Anderson, with a facsimile made in Full-Tone Collotype by the Meriden Gravure Company (Magee, p.56; Broomfield A18b[c2]). The slipcase is slightly rubbed and faded at the edges, else a fine copy.

A set of twelve keepsake series pamphlets, featuring a series of letters reproduced in facsimile of twelve distinguished Pacific Coast authors of the past, each with a comment by a contemporary western writer, issued in editions of five hundred copies by various fine printing presses, and presented to members of The Book Club of California. The pamphlet in the set include: Title pamphlet, with a foreword by Oscar Lewis and a table of contents identifying the subject writers, commenting writers, and printers, and the month of each pamphlet / Archetype Press; One: George Sterling / Robinson Jeffers / Grabhorn Press; Two: Bret Hart / George R. Stewart, Jr. / Windsor Press; Three: Frank Norris / Franklin Walker / Johnck & Seeger; Four: Richard Henry Dana / James D. All are printed in at least two colors. All consist of one sheet folded once, with the facsimile letter tipped to the inner recto and the contemporary comment on the inner verso. The majority of the pamphlets in this set include the original letters presenting them by Book Club of California Secretary Oscar Lewis.
