Order Nr. 137034

Very rare first edition thus printed using the miniature type designed by Pierre Simon Fournier. Text in Latin. (Spielman 95; Bondy 24). Top of spine very slightly worn, corners very slightly crushed, but a very good copy. Text within woodcut decorative frame, engraved portrait engraved by F. Huot after Rubens of Cicero facing title-page.

Bondy notes that this work was published in Paris by Coustelier in 1749 and by Bauche a year later and states concerning the three inch rule for miniature books "No rule can be without exception, and we must strongly advise collectors to include this volume, if they are lucky enough to find it" - page 24.
