Printed in an edition limited to 300 copies (Holbrook, 15). Acetate dust jackets are present on all but one volume (St. Marke). Spine of the St. Marke volume lightly age-darkened, small crease to the foot of the spine of the St. John volume. Else a near fine set.
William Tyndale's translation, possibly began circa 1522, of the four gospels of Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. A portion of the first translation of the Bible from the original Greek and Hebrew manuscripts into the English language. Laid out by Victor Hammer, press work by Jacob Hammer. Each title preceded by two woodcuts from the Holkham Bible which depict the symbolic representations of the gospel writers of angel, bull, lion, and eagle.
