First edition. (S-K 967) Max Husung has brought together this selection of outstanding bookbindings from the Preussischen Staatsbibliothek in Berlin. Includes 182 illustrations in 100 plates (black-and-white and color). Each illustration is supplemented with a full description. The bindings illustrated range from Byzantine examples inset with carved ivory vignettes to mediaeval blindstamping to nineteenth-century gilt and filleted types. Original four page prospectus loosely inserted. Preliminary and text pages are present in Xerox and bound in. Scuffing of leather around edges.
