First edition. This is a catalog of the 1988 exhibition of children's book art held at the Joseph-Haubrich Kunsthalle in Köln. Includes 34 short essays on all aspects of children's book art, from incunable art to art of the Weimar Republic. All illustrations are reproduced in color. The second half of the book is taken up by the catalog, with 2,972 illustrated entries. The second volume contains a short title list of all the books in the exhibition. The first volume is signed by eight of the contributors to the book.
