"The Buildwas books have not previously been studied, though Dr. Neil Ker identified 36 books from the Abbey to which Prof. Andrew Watson added a firther three. This then comprised the second largest group of books to survive from an English Cistercian house, second only to Fountains, from which Ker identified 39 books, and to which Watson also added three. During the course of the present sutdy, six books rejected by Ker have been re-established as books once at Buildwas, and four more have been newly identified as such. This brings the current total to 49 books; and it is to be hoped that the publication of this study may lead to the identification of more." Appendices and indexes.
