Antonius van der Linde(1833- 1897) was a Dutch chess historian, librarian, and theologian. He is considered the first chess historian. In 1874 he published his most important work on Chess: The History and Literature of Chess. Even today it is considered a standard work on chess history and a standard bibliography on the subject.
