Order Nr. 78146

First edition. A pair of bibliographies relating to John Calvin (1509-1564), the famed Protestant reformer (Besterman 1091-92). Containing a total of 2000 entries, the bibliographies are separated into a chronological catalogue of the works of John Calvin printed from 1532 to 1899, and an alphabetical catalogue of works about Calvin, including some 900 volumes. Entries in Latin, English, French, and German. An alphabetical index of author's names and a European-style table of contents appear at the end of the volume. The engraved frontispiece portrait of Calvin is quite nice. Loosely inserted is a commemorative book label that indicates that this volume came from the reference library of H.P. Kraus purchased by Oak Knoll Books at the auction sale. Leather, edges rubbed. Front covers detached along hinges.
