First edition. Volume 3 of the serial publication, Geschichte der Wissenschaften in Deutschland. Surveys the history of agriculture and forestry from the sixteenth century to the present. The German botanist and agriculturist Carl Fraas (1810-1875) contributed greatly to the study of botany. The professor also founded and edited the weekly agricultural paper, the Schranne. Discusses a number of individual publications and historical movements. Loose bookplate indicates that this copy was purchased from the collection of H.P. Kraus. Foxed throughout. Loss of leather to head of spine, with some cracking along the edges. Corners bumped and edges rubbed.
