Hoffman (1912-1989), the California private press printer. With a foreword by Doyce B. Numis, Jr. followed by a biographical memoir, a catalogue of Hoffman imprints and an index to authors, compilers and editors. The introductory matter is printed with a surrounding typographic borders printed in black, blue or red and taken from various examples produced by famous printers. In addition to the biographical descriptions there is a large section of reproductions of title pages, etc. that give the reader a better sense of Hoffman's work. Extra copy of the frontispiece loosely inserted. Nicely produced book.
