Order Nr. 73434

First edition, limited to 500 numbered copies. Dodgson traces the career and oeuvre of the British engraver Stephen Gooden in this study. Gooden helped revive the practice of line engraving in England after WWI. An attempt has been made to illustrate all engravings mentioned. Each catalog entry provides measurements and state information (the various states are pictured as well). A section of this catalog originally appeared in The Print Collector's Quarterly of 1941. Printed by the Curwen Press. Spine faded. Initials hand-lettered in calligraphic script on front free endpaper.
