Includes 1st book editions of items which also appeared in periodicals, and may cross-reference pseudonyms, joint authors, and works published as parts of other works. Entries for short story collections often list contents. Not exhaustive coverage, but at 13,179 entries (exclusive of cross-references), quite extensive. Most copies examined for the bibliography are from the William Charvat Collection of American Fiction at the Ohio St. Univ. Libraries except where another source is explicitly indicated.
