A discussion and catalogue of British prints relating for the most part to hunting, shooting, racing and coaching, with sports such as prize-fighting and tennis also covered. George Stubbs and George Morland are well represented. Arranged alphabetically by artist, each section contains a biography, artistic and technical descriptions of the prints catalogued, and a great deal of information about the social and sporting life depicted. These descriptions of eighteenth and nineteenth century are very entertaining and informative, making this a book for anyone interested in the social history as well as the art of the time.
