Order Nr. 36985

First edition, limited to 238 numbered copies printed on Holland hand-made paper by Frank Hopkins at the Marion Press. (S-K 1391; Mejer 1320; Larremore 61 for Marion Press). This copy is further inscribed by Henry Poor to Edward Robinson on the front free endpaper, and contains Henry Poor's red leather bookplate on the front pastedown. Very minor wear to the spine ends, very light soiling to the boards. A lovely association copy in relatively well-preserved condition, and has become a very rare book in recent years.

An excellent source book on bindings at the turn of the century as Poor had commissioned many of the finest contemporary binders to bind his books. Describes books bound by the Club Bindery, Stikeman, R.W. Smith, and Toof.
Poor's collection was sold at auction in 1908-09 with Henry Huntington a major buyer. Rubbed along edges with wear at head of spine and tips. Offset from old newspaper on front pastedown and free endpaper. Offset from color plates.
