Order Nr. 137300

First English edition. BAL 7387. A near fine copy. Bookseller's ticket at foot of pastedown. Illustrated frontispiece. Printed by Spottiswoode and Co. Reprints parts of Lectures of Bret Harte (1909) edited by Kozlay.. Includes an appearance of Mark Twain's "Letter to John Camden Hotten," in which Clemens complains that, adding injury to insult, Hotten not only pirated some of Twain's work, but added his own chapters to Twain's writings. Hotten also pirated Bret Harte. Harte's editor, Harte's three Aesopian fables were probably written at Chicago in 1874, and appeared in an obscure publication.
