Four volumes bound in two. Bound in later buckram. This particular set was stamped "Bequeathed by Leonard L. Mackall". Near fine. Translated by Sir Frederic Madden, K.H., F.R.S., M.R.I.A., Keeper of the Department of Manuscripts in the British Museum. This two-volume set contains the English translation to accompany the folio reproductions. The first edition Universal Palaeography is still instrumental in the history of palaeography, and one of the finest sets containing chromolithography.
