Unique Artist's Book. A fine copy. Hand painted with calligraphy by hand by the artist, Douglas Shafer. Two initial letters in gilt. Three full page polychrome rondels finished in gilt, hand-painted floral and insects, title page and colophon page. Bound by the artist: lacquered wood panels containing the hand-made paper in accordion fold, metal clasps connected to the wooden box with leather strips. Two brass rods hold the box together by being inserted into the metal clasps. Two small gilt one-inch circles on both front and rear wooden covers.
