Limited to 100 numbered copies. Printed on Japanese paper. List of illustrations, introductory comments by Ernest Rhys. Illustrated by R.W.A. Rouse (House 439). Frontispiece and illustrations throughout text. The Guild of Women-Binders was organized in 1898 by Frank Karslake, less as a guild in the traditional sense of that word than as a business venture by Karslake, who abandoned the effort in 1904. See Marianne Tidcombe, Women Bookbinders 1880-1920 (New Castle, Delaware: Oak Knoll Press, 1996), 115-130).
This copy has the ex-libris bookplate of Charles Walker Andrews (1861 - 1946), attorney and councilor-at-law for the law firm Goodelle, Nottingham Bros, & Andrews from Syracuse, NY.
Frontispiece and title page show light tanning to the Japan Vellum. Covers tanned at edges, slightly rubbed and scuffed at edges.
