Front hinge cracked through with spine separating. Preliminary leaves of volume one separated yet present. Pages 215-218 loose, but attached to the textblock. Rear hinge of volume one starting. Rubbing to the spine and boards of volume two. Some wear to spine ends. Exlibris with markings. Published with the same frontispiece as those in the second and third edition. Completely rewritten, this edition omits several sections provided in previous editions, while adding for the first time the information on the polyglot, Hebrew and Greek Bibles and the Greek and Latin Fathers. On page 166, Vol. I, there is tipped in specimen leaf from Pickering's Diamond Edition of the Greek New Testament. Still a useful reference tool and difficult to find in the fourth edition.
