Order Nr. 130138

This work unites the Rothschild Alunno, now in the Cotsen Children's Library, with Alunno's remaining work from four European collections and reconstructs the original appearance of the cartoni by the preeminent 15th century Italian writing master. The cartoni are presented in full color facsimile, with a text revealing the results of Nicolas Barker's more than fifty years of researches into the identity, associations, and achievements of Francesco Alunno. The scholarly apparatus provides a complete catalogue of the cartoni, with transcriptions and translations of source documents concerning Alunno and his milieu, with special reference to Pietro Aretino. Regular and oblong quarto, 231 color plates, in custom slipcase and printed mailing folder. Limited to 300 copies.
