First translation into English of this classic book on the love of books. The translation was done by John Bellingham Inglis from the text of the 1473 edition. MacLagan calls the translation "a work of more spirit than accuracy..." Wear at spine ends with some lose of cloth at head of spine. Spine label partially chipped off. Old ink note on verso of title page. With old underlining in purple pencil and some annotations in margin and on back free endpaper.
