Kate Greenaway (1846-1901) was a British watercolorist and illustrator whose works became popular in the United States by the 1880s (Houfe 324). Richards (1850-1943), the daughter of Julia Ward Howe, was an American poet who wrote over 90 books. First published in the Ladies' Home Journal 1895-1896 and reproduced here for the first time in book form.
