Includes two articles, "The Golden Jeweled Covers" and "The Manuscript Text," with two color plates depicting lower and upper covers of the Gospels. The manuscript was long in the possession of the Abbey of Noble Canonesses in Lindau, founded in 834 by Louis the Pious, before its acquisition by Ashburnham after the dissolution of the abbey in 1803. The manuscript was particularly noted for its jeweler's and goldsmith's artwork. The text also includes black and white illustrations. Wrappers lightly soiled.
