This catalogue comes from an exhibition of Scottish books and manuscripts from the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries. While the Grolier Club had featured many exhibitions on Irish and English literature, there had been no comprehensive showing of Scottish literature which occupies a large holding at the Grolier Club. With more than 130 items described, the catalogue demonstrates the breadth and vitality of the Scottish achievement in lyric poetry, fiction, and historical and philosophical writings that were written or published during five centuries. The catalogue is organized chronologically by author. Some authors include George Wishart, Allan Ramsay, David Hume, Hugh Blair, Adam Smith, and James Boswell. It contains three illustrations.
