Limited to an edition of 1000. This book was originally published to accompany twenty-four silver medals produced by the Lincoln Mint. They were not distributed as expected, so this book was not published until much later. It contains two autobiographical sketches written by Lincoln in 1859 and 1860 and extracts from letters and speeches, all combined into a single autobiographical narrative. The twenty-four drawings by Lloyd Ostendorf were meant to decorate the medals but were reproduced as line drawings by Kingsley Scott to act as chapter headings. Printed in Garamond on ivory Carnival Vellum. Letter about the publication of the book laid-in. Head and tail of spine creased.
