Bound in quarter blue patterned cloth and light blue-gray Fabriano paper boards. Handprinted on double-fold Japanese Masa paper by McCurdy. Pendle Press on colophon. The press's name was changed to Hillside Press, then the Penmaen Press, when McCurdy found other printers using the same names (Finding Aid, Penmaen Press records, Dodd Research Center, University of Connecticut, Storrs). Broadside "An Introductory Comment as to the Aims & Aspirations of the Hillside Press" laid in. Very rare. Also present is another version of this broadside in a different typographic arrangment with a pencil note that states that this version was not used. Cloth portion of boards stained. Paper portion of boards lightly faded at edges.

Pollard's essay "Changes in the Style of Bookbinding, 1550-1830" originally appeared in "The Library" in 1956. The third article is again by Wakeman and is entitled "Bookbinding Styles in the Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch Parish Libraries." This article is based on illustrated slide lectures Wakeman gave while teaching at Loughborough and was meant to demonstrate to students the changes in binding style over the period covered in Pollard's article. Wakeman, a printing historian of the highest regard, has described 51 of the most important titles relating to printing that were written over the explosive second half of the 19th century. He tells how printing was presented to the public, both as a technical science and as manuals for the amateur printer. Includes illustrations of title pages, printing machinery, etc. With the bookplate and pencil signature of Gavin Bridson. Bound into the back is an offprint from Matrix 6 being an article by Wakeman on "Further Thoughts on the Literature of Letterpress Printing" that appeared in 1986 which has a presentation from Wakeman to Bridson.

Printed in an edition limited to only 75 numbered copies. (Bibliography of the Plough Press, p.8). Includes descriptions and actual period examples laid-in for 16 different printing processes utilized during the nineteenth century. Included are familiar processes such as wood engraving, copper and steel engraving, lithography, and aquatint as well as less familiar processes such as omnigraphy, and anastatic printing. An early book from this fine English press. Useful as teaching tool because of the examples of the different processes which are present. This copy has been supplemented by a number of additional samples of the various processes and there is a note in pencil stating that "This is an extra-illustrated copy." Slipcase rubbed and faded along edges.

Printed in an edition limited to 60 copies, on Johannot paper, each copy signed by the poet and the artist. A sequence of five haiku by the Scottish poet Kenneth White who lives in France and has written verses in English and in French. Each page has the English verse, followed by the French verse set in italic; the recto of each page is Bertrand Bracaval's silkscreen. Inspired by the ancient monuments of Greece, the Acropolis, Delphi, etc. The haiku catch the starkness of the Greek landscape, as do the stone-like triangles in Bracaval's square silkscreens. The French artist has also set the type. Bracaval has been awarded many prizes through nearly four decades beginning with the Prix Lafont in 1967 and most recently the Prix Robert Beltz in 2002. His works are continually exhibited and are held in such public collections as the Centre George Pompidou, British Library, and the Boston Athenaeum.
