New Castle, DE Oak Knoll Press 2004 6.75 x 9.5 inches cloth, dust jacket xxxvii, 266 pages
First edition. Benjamin D'Israeli was of the opinion that he was born in a library. The library was reputed to have held about 25,000 volumes and belonged to his father, Isaac D'Israeli, a prolific and popular author of fiction, poems and historical subjects. Over his lifetime, D'Israeli had much to say about books, and the essays in this volume demonstrate his "honest desire of giving useful pleasure," as well as his conviction that books form the character of civilization. This is a fascinating read on a topic which is absorbing and thought-provoking for any bibliophile. Includes major sections on 1. Writing and Reading, 2. Printing and Publishing, 3. Books, 4. Authors & Co., 5. Preservation and Destruction, 6. Property and Politics, 7. Libraries. Includes a biography of D'Israeli by the editor at the beginning. Co-published with the British Library. New Castle, Delaware Oak Knoll Press 2001 8vo. cloth, 624 pages. illustrated.
This is the first book-length presentation of the life and works of James Orchard Halliwell-Phillipps, the eminent Shakespearean scholar. Halliwell was a man of prodigious energy and wide interests. New Castle & London Oak Knoll Press & The British Library 2010 7 x 10 inches hardcover with dust jacket 496 pages, plus CD-ROM with images
Tom Stoppard, whose writing career spans over half a century, is one of the most prolific of living British authors. This bibliographical history provides a comprehensive account of the print-published writings, and texts in other media, which he has wholly or partially authored. It will be an indispensable resource for all who have a scholarly interest in modern British literature, drama and cinematic scripts.

As a creator of texts in dramatic form for live theatre, radio, television or cinema, Stoppard has won Tony awards and Oscars. He has composed short stories, a novel, and a large number of non-fictional prose writings, such as essays, articles, published speeches and letters to periodicals. This bibliography records for the first time his innumerable articles including investigative journalism, and film and theatre reviews penned as a young working journalist. Also included are interviews recorded in print or other media and interview-based articles. The bibliography documents other texts generated from Stoppard's interests in literary projects, human rights, and other causes as a champion of freedom of expression, with forewords to books, short notes, jointly authored letters, signatures to petitions, declarations and other material. A Bibliographic History provides a guide to Tom Stoppard's obsessive creative revisions and also documents the countless translations of his work.

William Baker is a Board of Trustees Professor and Distinguished Research Professor at Northern Illinois University. His interest in bibliography and librarianship resulted in his gaining the MLS degree from the University of Loughborough. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Bibliographical Society of America, the American Philosophical Society and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Gerald N. Wachs, MD, is an eminent New York based dermatologist and book-collector with a unique Stoppard Collection upon which this bibliographical history is based.

Twomey, Ryan "THE CHILD IS FATHER OF THE MAN": THE IMPORTANCE OF JUVENILIA IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AUTHOR.
Houten HES & DE GRAAF 2012 6 x 9.5 inches paperback 164 pages
This new book discusses nineteenth-century juvenilia from the development of the child writer into the adult author. Reviewing a juvenile's role in the writing progression to famous authors, the book discusses current academic scholarship for juveniles and focuses on the individual literary progressions of nineteenth-century British writers William Harrison Ainsworth, Emily Brontë, and George Eliot, and the Anglo-Irish writer, Maria Edgeworth.

The analysis of these authors provides historical, regional, gothic, and lyric context and includes an interdisciplinary study into the fields of history, biography, and languages and linguistics. Each chapter is written as an individual case study espousing the importance of the juvenilia on the development of the later, more publicised, authorship. Referencing the perceived neglect the juvenilia has received from the academic community, this book will also discuss the future of the genre.

With "Foreword to my own Bibliography" by John Updike and a CD Supplement New Castle, Delaware Oak Knoll Press 2007 8.5 x 11 inches hardcover, dust jacket 624 pages (plus 359 pages on CD-ROM)
First Edition. John Updike is internationally renowned for his novels, short stories, poems, essays and criticism. He has won two Pulitzers, the National Book Award, the American Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and many other prizes. Updike has written a "Foreword to My Own Bibliography" especially for this book.
This definitive guide to materials by and about this prolific American author consists of a printed first volume and a second volume on CD (a first for Oak Knoll Press). The A and B sections of Volume I, concerning separately printed works by Updike and books to which he has contributed, are superb examples of descriptive bibliography. The printed volume also features over 500 grayscale images of book covers, jackets, broadsides, and many seldom seen items. It includes comprehensive listings of Updike's short fiction, poems, articles, essays, and reviews, as well as extensive documentation of letters, speeches, dramatic works, manuscripts, interviews, and blurbs. Volume II contains entries for material about Updike and his work (reviews, commentary, and theses), several appendices (media appearances, work read by others, works in translation, exhibits and catalogs), and full-color versions of images appearing in the printed volume. John Updike: a Bibliography of Primary and Secondary Materials, 1948-2007 provides an indispensable guide to Updike's work and commentary about it.
Jack De Bellis, professor emeritus of English (Lehigh University), has authored The John Updike Encyclopedia (2000) and John Updike: Critical Responses to the "Rabbit" Saga (2004), as well as several essays and reviews concerning Updike's novels. This bibliography greatly expands his 1994 compilation for Greenwood Press. De Bellis has also published two books on the poet Sidney Lanier, and articles on writers ranging from Shakespeare to Ken Kesey, and from F. Scott Fitzgerald to Truman Capote. His first published work, on Andrew Lytle, was a bibliography. De Bellis was a Fulbright scholar to the University of Toulouse in France. He lives with his wife in Allentown, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia where he was born.
Michael Broomfield, a corporate lawyer by profession, has become, over the past 40 years, a preeminent collector of first editions and other materials by a number of American writers, including Raymond Carver, E.E. Cummings, William Faulkner, Joseph Heller, Robinson Jeffers and many living authors. Collecting work in many forms, Broomfield displays remarkable attention to detail and an acute understanding of the complexities of editions. He has what is probably the most extensive private collection of John Updike materials. This bibliography is Broomfield's first book. He lives in New York City with his wife and their daughter.

`t Goy-Houten HES & DE GRAAF 2001 6.5 x 9.75 inches cloth. 282 pages.
With English summary. John Calvin (1509-1564) and Dirck Volckerts Coornhert (1522-1590) are both exponents of movements which have profoundly influenced Dutch society. Calvin was convinced that faith required a church, whereas Coornhert held that one could be a good believer without a church. The polemic between Coornhert and Calvin (1560-1562) centered around this theme. In this book the arguments of Coornhert and Calvin are analyzed and compared to those of contemporaries who participated in the same debate. Moreover Coornhert's treatise against Calvin is edited and thus accessible to the modern reader. (Bibliotheca Humanistica & Reformatorica, Vol. LX).
