Angelo, born 1897 in Tuscany, attended a monastery school, observed a monk reading a 15th century Book of Hours, and was deeply impressed. That book's influence was reflected in Angelo's own work, the books he created for Grabhorn, Peter Pauper, The Limited Editions Club, and his own imprints.
