See More... Barnhill, Georgia Brady (editor) PRINTS OF NEW ENGLAND.
Worcester American Antiquarian Society 1991 4to. cloth, dust jacket. viii, 164, (2) pages.
These articles focus on the first available studies on James Turner (1722-59), silversmith-engraver by Martha Fales; William Bentley's bequest of an exceptional collection of portraits by Stefanie Winkelbauer; American 18th-century portrait prints by Wendy Reaves; the publishing of illustrations in the Society's first substantial publication in 1820 by Marcus McCorison; New England's political cartoons from 1812-61 by Georgia Barnhill; the maps of Franklin Leavitt by David Tatham, and textile printing by Jane Kaufmann. Extensive illustrations and a checklist of the prints in the exhibition are also included. The 1976 Seventh North American print conference, at which these articles were presented, was co-sponsored by the American Antiquarian Society and the Worcester Art Museum and sought to cover New England printmakers and prints about New England, reflecting the diversity of the history of the region, its graphic arts and the strengths of the collections of the museum and of the Society.

See More... BOOKS AND PRINTS, PAST AND FUTURE
New York The Grolier Club 1984 7 x 10 inches hardcover 146 pages
Books and Prints, Past and Future is a collection of papers delivered at the Grolier Club's centennial celebration in 1984. These speeches were given during the course of three seminars and the final dinner of the convocation. The first seminar, devoted to retrospective essays, kicked off with an essay by Mary Hyde, the first woman elected to membership at the Grolier Club. G. Thomas Tanselle was next to present an essay, and Robert C. Darnton was the third speaker. The second set of presentations was based off the understanding that the Grolier Club took its origin after a period of neglect. The last seminar contained speeches on the future prospects of the book, given by Robert Giroux, James Thorpe, and Benjamin Compaine. In all the speeches, there was a consistent effort to see present-day collecting in the frame provided by collections of the past. These sets of speeches were delivered by Andrew Robison, Walter Bareiss, Eberhard Kornfield, and Frank Stella. The final and closing essay was delivered by Daniel Bell who provided a schematic framework for the "information revolution."

Mansfield Centre, MA Martino Publishing 2006 oblong 8vo. cloth. xvii, 455 pages.
Reprint of the 1975 first edition published by the Library of Congress. This annotated catalogue of prints and drawings from 1765-1790 gathers all the images to be found in the Library of Congress relating to the American Revolution. "Mr. Cresswell's painstaking compilation is multiplied in value by the decision of the Library of Congress to illustrate it on a generous scale. Both the compiler and the publisher deserve congratulations for creating a pictorial sourcebook of the American Revolution. At best, only a few other volumes can qualify for the same usefulness in opening before us, in pictures, a decisive chapter in our past." From the introduction. Over 900 images are reproduced. Includes indexes for titles, subjects, artists, persons, and publishers.

New York The Grolier Club 2008 6 x 9 inches paperback 22 pages

These collections are often "secondary" or "tertiary" collections of the members, but they reveal a diversity of images and the Club's desire to delve deeper into particular subjects. The catalogue contains descriptions, written by the members, of both their primary and secondary collections. The exhibition and the catalogue were both dedicated in memory of Grolier Club member Wolfgang Herz.

Hogendoorn, Wiebe. SETTING THE SCENE: THE AMSTERDAM STAGE IN PICTURES 1665-1772.
De Schouburg in Beeld: Amsterdamse Toneelscènes 1665-1772 Houten HES & DE GRAAF 2012 11.75 x 8.25 inches paperback 240 pages
This book comprises a series of fifteen Amsterdam Schouwburg set prints from the eighteenth century, accompanied by detailed discussions. Most of these prints have appeared individually in Dutch theatre histories or specialist studies and some of them in foreign theatre histories. However, this is the first publication that includes the complete series, in colour and, what is more, explained from every point of view.

The series of prints in this book gradually came about after the Centenary of the Schouwburg in 1738. In this publication, they are supported by illustrations that can be connected to the set prints and are equally relevant when studying the theatre history of that time.

The book determines the facts about these prints, including whether or not, as well as how, the draughtsman, the engraver, or the colourist has interfered, be it for artistic or for social reasons. This means that in the background of this presentation of beautiful prints - which is this book's prime objective - the fundamental tension between reliability and manipulation will constantly be present.

In English and Dutch. Available outside North America from HES & DE GRAAF Publishers.
