Published on the occasion of the one hundredth anniversary of the library's founding, this history includes a floor plan and several black-and-white illustrations. The wrappers of this set are worn, moderately soiled, and have darkened around the edges. The spines of both volumes are damaged. The front wrapper of the first volume is detached but present. The interiors, notable for their unusual design (with a red grid delineating the parts of each page), are in better shape. Some leaves are unopened and several pages show minor soiling or foxing.

One of 250 copies issued as a Christmas Keepsake by the Rushmores from their Golden Hind Press. The limitation is printed on a small bookplate which is lacking in this copy. This is a spoof translation of Mrs. Gutenberg's diary showing that it was really she that discovered printing. Dwiggins wrote a "critical foreword" under his pseudonym, Hermann Puterschein. Ink stamp on front free endpaper indicates that this copy belonged to The Haddon Craftsmen; also has the remnants of a label at bottom of front cover. Lacks spine label.
