Hunting, Thomas Manuscript notebook written by Thomas Hunting to gather information on the early printers and the values of their books.
London n.d. thick 12mo. paper wrappers. Not paginated but many pages.
Thick handwritten notebook with the following written on the front cover "5/- say five shillings will be given to any person finding this book and returning to the following address. Thomas Hunting. 180 Fenchurch at London." The first section deals with Caxton and lists all the titles printed by him and the relative value of them. The back contains a list of towns and when printing developed in them. Enclosed in an envelope on which someone has written "circa 1850" on it.

A early version of this bibliography which appeared before the Oak Knoll Press edition of 1999. This bibliography from one of America's leading scholars offers a welcome research on one of the 18th century's "prolific men of letters." Richard Hurd, a Bishop in the Anglican Church, was a consummate writer and editor of books. A close friend of King George III and his wife, he was held in high esteem by Dr. Samuel Johnson, William Warburton, and other leading literati of his age. Horace Walpole was one of his sharpest critics. This bibliography is an important addition to any library of 18th-century historians and bibliophiles. In red pencil on title page "Work in progress as of Dec. 5, 1995" and further inscribed by the author "To Larry, with best wishes for good hunting, Don, Christmas, 1995."
