See More... (Zwingli, Ulrich) Finsler, Georg ZWINGLI-BIBLIOGRAPHIE, VERZEICHNIS DER GEDRUCKTEN SCHRIFTEN VON UND ÜBER ULRICH ZWINGLI
Zürich Art. Institut Orell Füßli 1897 8vo. contemporary half cloth with marbled paper covered boards. xi, 187+(1) pages
First edition (Besterman 6664). Chronologically arranged bibliography of works by and about the Swiss Reformer and Humanist Huldrich Zwingli (1484--1531). Zwingli's early publications were political in nature rather than religious, but he soon became interested in the changing tides of understanding the precise role and limitations of the church fathers. He hoped that the reformation of the Church would proceed quietly and from within. His theological views are expressed succinctly in the sixty-seven theses published at Zurich (where he sparked the Reformation) in 1523, and at greater length in the First Helvetic Confession, compiled in 1536 by a number of his disciples. Head pieces. Loosely inserted is an invoice dated 1902 from Ludwig Rosenthal selling various Zwingli books. Covers rubbed with wear at spine ends.
Price: $ 30.00 other currencies Order nr. 77991
