A loosely laid-in plate indicates that this copy came from the reference library and stock of H. P. Kraus. The binding staples have rusted slightly. Otherwise the interior shows minimal soiling or wear.

A loosely laid-in plate indicates that this copy came from the reference library and stock of H. P. Kraus. In the second volume are scattered notations (mostly in the margins), and the final three leaves (advertising items available from Harrassowitz but not part of the Milkau collection) are fragile and partly torn, with some loss.

The standard biographical dictionary for the Netherlands. This set lacks Volumes 7-9 (each with its own alphabet), but includes Volume 10 with the overall index. Editors of later volumes include Prof. Dr. L. Knappert (v. 5) and Dr. Fr. K.H. Kossman (v. 6 and 10). The exteriors of this set show modest soiling. The leather spine labels of Volumes 1-5, salvaged from the original binding, are chipped. The corners of volumes 6 and 10 have been bumped a little. The binding of Volume 10 has cracked at the hinge in two places: about one third in from the back (where it has not completely separated) and a few pages in from the back (where it has separated). The rear cover and spine have pulled away from the textblock and remain attached only at the front hinge. Each volume has a bookplate affixed to the front pastedown indicating that this set came from the reference library H.P. Kraus.

Accompanied by eight color plates depicting Native American pottery. Includes countless other black-and-white illustrations of earthenware as well as a map of the Ouachita River, which runs from central western Arkansas into Louisiana.
