Catalogue 116 and a folder with Plates 1 to 46 (XLVI) are included together in an envelope addressed to Dr. P K Randeria. Charles-Nicolas Cochin was one of the primary tastemakers in France during the 1700s. In addition to creating independent drawings, he produced numerous designs for paintings and sculptures, and illustrated more than two hundred books. Envelope has the Christie's logo in the upper left corner. A corner is missing from the front cover near the head of the spine. Heel of the spine has split an inch long. Moderate wear overall.

The first catalogues medals, autographs, portraits and literary works related to Friedrich von Schiller and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, both of whom were instrumental in the Sturm und Drang literary movement in eighteenth century Germany. With facsimiles of writing samples and portraits. The second catalogue supplements the sale items with works related to Goethe alone. The next two issues catalogue sale items from the collection of Eduard von Bamberg. The final catalogue arranged by genre, chronology, topography and occasionally by author.
