See More... (Jahn, Otto) OTTO JAHN'S BIBLIOTHEK
Bonn F. Krüger 1870 small 8vo. original cloth with paper-covered boards 222, 208, 112 pages
Three auction catalogues bound together for the sale of Otto Jahn's (1813--1869) collection. The sale dates span February through November, 1870. The first volume catalogues Greek and Latin classical literature with over 7,500 lots. Volume two lists over 5,700 lots of archeological studies. The final section indexes books on a variety of topics, including histories, philological studies and printed books, with approximately 3,200 lots. Works listed are mostly from the eighteenth- and nineteenth- century, but some examples from the previous two centuries are represented. Two catalogues from this auction are missing: German literature and music. Considered as a set, this sale accurately reflects Jahn's personal and professional interests as an archaeologist, philologist, and writer on art and music. Loose bookplate indicates that this copy was purchased from the collection of H.P. Kraus. Corners and edges of covers rubbed. Book block completely detached. Pages irregularly faded, brittle and are prone to detachment from the binding.
