See More... Hardison, Brian Davon BURRIANA: A CATALOGUE OF RARE BOOKS, PAMPHLETS, LETTERS, MANUSCRIPTS, DOCUMENTS, & OBJECTS BY, ABOUT, OR RELATING TO AARON BURR AND HIS CONTEMPORARIES.
New York The Grolier Club 2012 6 x 9.25 inches hardcover 306 pages
This book was produced to accompany the exhibition "Aaron Burr Returns to New York," on show at the Grolier Club May 15-July 28, 2012; but it is also a detailed record of all the most important items from Brian Hardisons superb and comprehensive collection of Aaron Burr, Jr., (1756-1836).

Soldier, lawyer, statesman, and the third Vice President of the United States under Jefferson, Burr was also one of the most maligned figures of the founding era, accused of attempting to steal the Presidential election of 1800 from Thomas Jefferson, of murdering Alexander Hamilton in 1804, and of treason in 1807. Yet a careful examination of contemporary documents, including the five hundred plus items described in this catalogue, reveals a far more complex persona, one whose support for womens rights, the arts and the nascent anti-slavery movement were among the most progressive of his time. The documents show a military hero, a highly skilled lawyer, a caring family man, and a great philanthropist, not to mention a very able politician. Hero or villain, Burr was an enormously influential (if controversial) public figure whose impact continues to be felt today.

The catalogue is organized chronologically and focuses on major events in Burrs life, including his role in the first murder trial in United States history, the presidential elections of 1796 and 1800, and his trial for treason. Illustrated in color throughout, the book contains a thirteen-page introduction, useful appendices, and an index.

See More... (Hardy, Thomas) Purdy, Richard Little and Charles Pettit THOMAS HARDY, A BIBLIOGRAPHICAL STUDY
New Castle Oak Knoll Press 2002 8vo. cloth, dust jacket. 432 pages.
Second edition. This work brings the 1954 first edition up-to-date with over five decades of new bibliographical reference additions all contained in a new two-part supplement. The first part guides the reader through the mass of material published on Hardy in recent decades by providing an annotated bibliography of key works that expand or update the information supplied by Purdy. The second part draws upon the contributions of a number of Hardy scholars in identifying errors in the book as originally published and significant bibliographical information that has become available since that time. Charles P.C. Pettit has contributed substantial additional material to aid today's reader. An Introduction describes the compilation of A Bibliographical Study and evaluates its key attributes, its place in the evolution of single-author bibliography, and its influence on Hardy studies. The author, Richard Little Purdy (1904-1990), was one of the leading Hardy scholars of the twentieth century. In addition to writing this classic bibliography, Purdy collaborated with Michael Millgate in editing the seven indispensable volumes of Hardy's Collected Letters.
