First edition. This excellent bibliography gives much information about miniature Bibles printed from the 17th to the 19th century in America, England, and Europe. The book is the work of a collector who has brought together much information not available elsewhere. Descriptions are extensive and include size, binding, contents, illustrations, other notes, references to other bibliographies where they exist, and locations for known copies. An essential reference book for collectors of children's books (children were the primary audience for these works), miniature books, and publishing history.

A collection of printers' jokes. Printed for the publisher by the Leadenhalle Presse. Quads, the little metal blanks used to fill in gaps, were otherwise 'of not much account.' Contained in a pocket at the back of this book is a miniature edition of the same, 1 5/8 by 1 1/16 inches. Parent book with engraved frontispiece, title page, and line engravings in the text. Glossary at end of text. Boards soiled and scuffed at edges. Front hinge of parent book cracked. With the bookplate of the noted miniature book collector, Kathryn Rickard on front pastedowns of both books and a hand written note by her loosely inserted.

Text in Hebrew. The title is on the case. A micrographic reproduction of the Torah or the Pentateuch--the first five books of the Old Testament--reduced from a Sefer-Torah, rolled in a scroll format. The micrographic scroll is inserted in the original silk covered case, gilt-stamped with the symbol of the Decalogue. Case is worn at its edges. The periodical Christian Work: Illustrated Family Newspaper, v. 62, p. 84, July 15, 1897, noted, "Lately, there has been circulating in England a marvel of the micrographic art in the shape of a Sepher Torah so small it can be inserted in the waistcoat pocket. It is the work of a Jewish scribe, J. Sopher of Paris."
