The edition was limited to 135, of which 20 were for sale. It is a story written by perhaps the most important literary figure in French Canada in the 19th century, Louis Frechette. It , along with some others, were written in English ( rather than French) in an effort to acquaint his English-speaking countrymen with the lives of the French Canadians. A Christmas gift book signed on the colophon by Mappin and again as part of the warm inscription on the free front endpaper. The rear board is lightly soiled and the head of the spine is a trifle bumped.
