Plates by T.S. Simson, Frank Bramley, and E.B. Ricketts, with a colophon engraved by the latter. Bookplates of P.K. Randeria and Ambrose Ellis Aspinwall Dunston, b. 1895, The King's Own Royal Regiment, Burltons (Fox-Davies, Armorial Famililes, p. 262), both prominent 20th century collectors, on the front pastedown endpapers. James Perry (1756-1821) journalist and book collector. Perry began his career in 1777 writing for the "General Advertiser" and the "London Evening-Post." After writing several installments in 1778 about a court-martialed admiral, he established himself as a well-known journalist in London. He began editing in 1782 for the "European Magazine" and later the "Gazetteer." He was also a political activist and member of the Fox Club. Bust engraving by James Thomson (1790-1850), after Abraham Wivell (1786-1849). 5" x 4.25" picture mounted on 10.5" x 7" sheet. Some discoloration and wear along edges, esp. left-hand and bottom.

Willard he was in the bank-note and general engraving business. Foxed.

Sir Sydney Waterlow, first baronet, (1822-1906) was the lord mayor of London (1872-3) and a philanthropist. His membership in the Stationers' Company began in 1847 and was named the Master in 1872-3. He is also the namesake for Waterlow park at Highgate, where his statue stands. He presented these grounds to St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 1872 for its use as a convalescent home. Caricature-like illustration is in color . Tears and wrinkled along top.
