New York The Grolier Club 2003 5.5 x 9.5 inches hardcover, dust jacket 96 pages
On May 30, 2001, thirty-seven members of the Grolier Club visited many of the greatest private and institutional collections of Scotland and England, viewing fine bindings, Gutenberg Bibles, rare atlases and herbals, unusual political tracts, and more. This book is an itinerary of the trip, consisting of pieces written by the participants on each day's bookish activities, lessons, and entertainment. Outside of libraries, the members also visited the village of Auchinleck, enjoyed dinner on the Britannia yacht, toured the gardens of Wardington Manor, and dined at the Guild Hall of the Worshipful Order of Ironmongers.

Some of the landmarks and libraries presented in the book including the Culzean Castle, the Library of William Zachs, the Royal Library at Windsor, Eton College Library, The British Library, and the Spencer House. With 45 illustrations from photographs taken by the participants, Iter Britannicum takes the reader through the same journey covered by the Grolier Club members. This story-like text is thoroughly enjoyable to read. A list of travelers and hosts are also included. The book was designed by Scott Vile and printed by the Ascensius Press.

See More... Holzenberg, Eric THREE GOLD BEZANTS, THREE SILVER STARS: THE ARMS OF THE GROLIER CLUB 1884-1984
New York The Grolier Club 1999 5.5 x 8.5 inches hardcover 62 pages
The arms of Jean Grolier are extremely recognizable in book collecting. He used them on bindings, opening leafs, and other leafs of his texts. Now, visitors to the Grolier Club see Jean Grolier's arms in carved stone at the Street entrance, in plaster over the fireplace, and in various other places throughout the Club.

This book has divided the Grolier arms into two categories: the Grolier arms used in publications and the arms used in ex libris. They are roughly grouped chronologically by date of original publication and each illustration is accompanied by a short explanation of when the device first appeared, and by whom it was designed. It contains a history of the arms of the Grolier Club since 1884, and Kit Currie provides a prefatory essay titled, "The Arms of Jean Grolier."

The book includes 22 illustrations, many printed from the original blocks, with three tipped in bookplates. A preface by Eric Holzenberg, club publications, and club bookplates are also presented. It was written in Herman Zapf's Renaissance roman and italic types. Design and typography were by Jerry Kelly.

With a Preface by G. Thomas Tanselle New York The Grolier Club 1997 6 x 9 inches paperback 182 pages
The Grolier Club exhibition "Sir Thomas Phillipps: Portrait of a Collector" was curated by Harrson D. Horblit in December 1972. Horblit had a tremendous collection of books and manuscripts relating to Sir Thomas Phillips, founder of the Middle Hill Press. Though no catalogue was ever produced to accompany the exhibition, the Phillipps archive is now a part of the Grolier Club Library, and this catalogue contains the Middle Hill Press portion of the collection. The "Phillipps Room" on the fifth floor of the Grolier Club is a memorial to both Sir Thomas Phillipps and Harrison Horblit.

The Middle Hill Press material is the largest section of the collection and illustrates the history of the press, while drawing together several strands of book history. This checklist includes a frontispiece portrait of Sir Thomas Phillipps and nine illustrations. It was designed by Jerry Kelly and printed by the Stinehour Press.
