Limited to 200 numbered copies printed by hand on Tweedweave and Ragston paper. The first section contains a history of printing with wood type by Dennis Grastorf including comments on the wood used. The other three sections are demonstrations of the use of wood type with the fourth section also containing practical information on the method of printing using wood type. Limited to 200 numbered copies. A collection of the works of Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-78), an Italian artist known for his etchings of Rome. Translated from the Italian by R.H. Boothroyd. Designed and produced by Edizioni il Polifilo, hand set in Caslon type and printed in Italy by Luigi Maestri. Collotype plates by Annibale Belli. Introductory essay by Mario Praz. 28 plates of Roman scenes with descriptive comments about each by Livio Jannattoni. Note on the life and works of G.B. Piranesi, table of contents, bibliography. Bottom and top of slipcase missing. Illustration on front of slip case torn at bottom.
