ANTON WOENSAM VON WORMS, MALER UND XYLOGRAPH ZU KÖLN
Merlo, J.J.
Two volumes bound in one. First volume is an art historical monograph of the work of the German painter and woodcutter Anton Woensam von Worms (circa 1500--1541). A brief section on his paintings is followed by a lengthy bibliography of his woodcut illustrations listed by type of publication: from Biblical to mythological illustrations, portraits to title pages, crests to alphabets. The second supplemental volume, printed in 1884, expands the bibliography of von Worms' woodcuts. A final section bound in is a bibliography of monographs, in which Merlo's work on von Worms is listed. Both hinges split but holding firm. Corners and spine chipped and rubbed. Paper covered boards irregularly faded. Memorial bookplate on front pastedown indicates that this copy came from the H.P. Kraus reference library and stock.
