Large type specimen book from around 1910-1915 (Lane - Lommen 334). Arranged as follows: a) Introduction and general table of contents; b) photographs of the factory and showrooms in Amsterdam; c) brief samples (short texts, alphabets, figures) of selected bookfaces first by size and then by face, and then first by face and then by size, Some of these faces include Plantin, Cheltenham, Electa, Firenze, Aldine, and others; d) longer text samples of bookfaces in different sizes and spacings; e) selected bookfaces in short texts grouped by size, each text specimen accompanied by lines of typographically compatible bolds and cursives in various faces; f) "fantasy-types" (which seems to include display and ornamental faces, along with initials) in lines, texts, and sample advertising compositions; g) borders and ornaments, generally in sample compositions and often in different colors; h) "diverse" materials - rules, symbols, numbers, scientific and technical signs, etc., and i) German and oriental typefaces (Fraktur, Hebrew, Arabic, and so on). In all there are about 50 basic typeface styles in a wide range of variants. The text specimens are often elaborately printed, with borders, columns, illustrations and decorated initial letters. Covers rubbed. Slightly shaken.

The marked up reference copies of a series of 39 catalogues issued by this Swiss bookseller. Most of the catalogues are interleaved and contain handwritten records of what sold and other occasional notes with many buyers' names written in. The first group are not bound but have been taken apart to interleave and then had the spine taped to keep them together. The majority of the catalogues have been bound in green cloth.
